Edible Bamboo Candy Development

Value Proposition:

Bamboo shoots such as of Dendrocalamus hamiltonii and Bambusa tulda are edible and are rich source of fibre and minerals. The technology is standardized for production of RTE foods such as candies for general consuption.

Summary Application:
  • Low cost easy adaptable processing for the development of novel bamboo candies
  • Products are free from additive and preservatives
  • Shelf life up to 4 months
  • Low fat and high fibre food products
Advantages:
  • Products are rich source of minerals ( calcium, potassium and phosphorus)
  • Other bamboo based products are bamboo flour, bamboo pickle, RTE bars etc.
  • Higher economic returns to farmers from value addition
