Title:

High Velocity Multi-Hit Resistant Movable Protective Booth/ Shack for Security Personnel

Value Proposition:

In view of the increased terrorist activities around the globe, the development of protective structures like guard shacks and security booths to resist high velocity impact loading such as the short projectile impact has greater significance in defence sector. CSIR-SERC have developed a booth/shack for military and security personnel. The security booth is modular type and made up of steel fibre reinforced cementitious composite panels fitted in steel frame.

The protective booth has been designed for providing level-III protection against multiple hits of 7.62 AP projectiles as per NIJ standard. Few Salient features of the developed security booth are as follows:

  • Multi-impact resistant (NIJ level-3)
  • Pre-engineered & precast solution
  • Easy to assemble and dismantle in about an hour
  • No need of heavy machinery for assembly
  • Repair, replace and reuse
  • Fully indigenous
  • Better ricochet resistance
  • Mobility and positioning
  • Cost-effective
  • Aesthetic look
Summary Application:

The developed security booth is useful for protecting personnel deployed for guarding various important and critical facilities across the country. Following are few potential stakeholders for the developed product:

  • CISF
  • CAPF
  • CRPF
  • BSF
  • Defense facilities
  • Embassies
  • Airport authorities so on..
Advantages:

Developed technology for prototype of movable protective booth for security personnel is totally indigenous. It is useful for security personnel deployed for protecting important facilities of national significance. This technology has huge potential to replace conventional ballistic protection using sand filled bags, which occupies lot of space. Due to usage of cementitious panel thermal comfort is expected.
