| Abstract: | The present invention relates to developing a hybrid PMMA/Liquid silicone rubber polymer nanocomposites-based coating material and process thereof for Lead-Free X- Ray radiation shielding textiles. More particularly, present invention relates to hybrid PMMA/Liquid silicone rubber polymer nanocomposites wherein nanoparticles and polymers in a single framework are used to make radiation shielding textiles in a unique way. The hybrid PMMA/Liquid silicone rubber polymer nanocomposites coating compositions are the first ever used for Lead-Free X-Ray radiation shielding textile applications. The high surface-to-volume ratio and high electron density of WO3 and MWCNT have synergistically contributed to good shielding properties of the hybrid polymer composites developed in this invention. The advantage of this invention is the attenuation properties of the coated cotton textiles have been achieved even at very low weight percentage of the nanoparticles from 6 to 7.1 weight % and thereby cost effective. The developed fabrics are suitable for garment forms in applications requiring protection against X-rays and for radiation shielding applications for both industrial and non-industrial applications. |
