| Title: | Imaging of Hidden Anomalies in Concrete and Stone Masonry Structures using Ultrasonic Pulse Velocity |
| Value Proposition: | The techniques offer an in-situ (in-field) visualization (Non-Destructive Evaluation) for localization of hidden defects inside the medium. It can be used for vvisualization of internal defects, velocity distribution, quality assurance of construction using the developed software |
| Summary Application: | The developed software/ program needs the UPV readings as a input, collected over the grid points in through transmission mode. After capturing the velocities for all the grid points of the medium, the velocity contours are prepared. The commercially available Ultrasonic equipment provides reliable UPV data. These equipments are very cost effective also. However, defect visualization facility is not available in this equipment. This is a technique for defect identification and visualizations in concrete or stone masonry structures just using any commercial low cost UPV devices. It can be used to isolate weaker zone / poor quality of concrete. Different strengths of medium may be detected. Identification of shape and size of the defects is also possible. |
| Advantages: | • User Friendly GUI, No prior knowledge required • Can be used for concrete and masonry structures • Can be used with any UPV device • Isolation of defected regions • Can be useful for different grade of concrete • Identification of shape and size of the anomaly • Localization of weakness in the structures • Will be also helpful in quality assurance and certification |
