| Abstract: | An improved water-cooled rotating wheel assembly to produce thin alloy strips An improved water-cooled rotating wheel assembly to produce thin alloy strips details the improved design, simplistic fabrication, and development of an internally water-cooled rotating wheel to prepare thin alloy ribbons/strips. The current setup is mechanically stable, capable of achieving a high cooling rate of 102-106 K/s, and suitable for producing Fe, Ni, and Co-based magnetic amorphous thin strips/ribbons of good surface quality. The choice of material, mechanical dimensions of the outer quenching rim, and the internal fluid duct are arranged to extract uniform melt-heat flux for producing amorphous strips/ribbons of varying cross-sections. Also, the improved design of the water- cooled rotating wheel has flexibility in internal flow channel design for producing 15-100 microns thick and 0.5-50mm wide metal strips for broader engineering Applications in twin roll casting, Extrusion Coating & Lamination, Food processing, Feed mills, etc., Fig:1 | ||
