Abstract:
Present scenario of on-site testing with high accuracy leads to the requirement of portable and hand-held systems in every domain like healthcare, food  quality maintenance, security, environmental monitoring and pollution control etc. The QMS offers mechanically simple design and manufacturing as well as has a  unique feature of scaling the dimensions without compromising the performance. A novel and compact design of sample input is proposed for a portable QMS. The  projected inlet system is an amalgamation of macro components with micro technology (MEMS technology). The concept of localized heating at input assembly is used  instead of big heating units. Spiral heater on insulated steel inlet tubing is used for localized heating up to 250oC. An innovative procedure has been initiated for  providing electrical insulation layer over steel using semiconductor fabrication deposition technique. IOT enabled inlet temperature display is also implemented on  mobile. This innovative sample inlet assembly has small dimensions and does not require any separate instrumentation. A low-cost novel method of electron/ion beam  tracing is also invented using MEMS approach. All the components of QMS are self-aligned using co-centric technique.
Startup Options:
The main advantages of the present invention are:
  • The development of a compact sample inlet system with a localized heater to increase the field deployability of portable QMS.
  • The proposed sample inlet system reduces the thermal budget, is low-powered, and does not require extensive instrumentation.
  • The low-cost sample inlet system with an in-line temperature-controlled heating system is compatible with QMS.
  • The proposed process facilitates beam current measurement and beam position tracing in a single step.
  • Mobile app integration with the portable QMS system to make it compact and compatible with real time IOT applications.
