| Abstract: | Wideband high power helix travelling-wave tubes (TWTs) fail frequently due to inadequate design of RF coupling system. Inadequacy arises due to mismatch of impedances between helix slow wave structure (SWS) to coaxial coupling system and coaxial coupling system to rectangular waveguide system. Due to impedance mismatch, amplified RF power gets reflected and causing oscillation, thermal load and finally failure of the TWT. For transmission of high RF power 200 W, an innovative door-knob coupling system has been design and demonstrated in TWTs. This coupling system has been experimentally validated with the wideband Ku-band helix TWT. The proposed RF coupling system is very accurate. Fig. 1 | ||
