| Abstract: | The present invention discloses a loose nanofiltration thin film composite membrane and its method of preparation for selective separation of salt and dye from aqueous solution. The process involves the preparation of polysulfone support ultrafiltration membrane by phase inversion method and then interfacial polymerization between a mixture of piperazine and resorcinol or a mixture of piperazine and phloroglucinol and trimesoyl chloride on top of the support membrane to obtain the polyamide- polyester thin film composite nanofiltration membrane. In the next step, the membranes were treated with NaOH solution of pH 10-12 to strategically degrade the ester linkages and to obtain the loose nanofiltration membranes. The loose nanofiltration membranes show high water permeance (35-80 L m-2 h-1 bar -1) with an excellent salt-to-dye separation factor (965-988) which is beneficial for textile wastewater treatment and resource recovery. | ||
