| Abstract: | Faster excavation of the mineral resources is one of the prominent need to meet the growing demands of the raw materials. The faster excavation however comes with many safeties related challenges. The mineral excavation methodology is shifting towards underground due to extinction of shallow depth ore deposits. Accordingly, a method has been devised for the faster excavation of ore body from underground. The method consists of blast hole drill design, explosive loading and delay sequence & timing for simultaneous excavation of slot raise and rings of a stope in a single blast. The method has dealt with various site specific geological/geotechnical, operational, safety constraints. The method is capable of extracting about 50-60% of the stope in a single blasting round compared to 10- 15 % extraction in a blast using conventional method. The faster production reduces the number of cycles for excavation of stope. The reduction in cycle in ore excavation is advantageous from safety as well as productivity point of view. Figure 1 |
