| Abstract: | The present invention relates to methods for treating a by-product of cement manufacturing comprising cement by-pass dust, said method comprising washing the by- product with an alkaline reagent to obtain a calcium oxide enriched product having lower chloride, sulphur and alkali content. The process may optionally involve additional steps being washing with hot water, oxalic acid or both. The 5 process may optionally involve an additional flotation treatment. The present method is cost effective and allows reuse of cement by-pass dust which would otherwise have been discarded as waste. |
