Title:

Micropropagation Protocol for Saffron Corm Production

Value Proposition:

Cost effective protocol for production of saffron corms through tissue culture. These corms are then maintained under controlled conditions for developing them into commercial size corms.

Summary Application:

The developed micropropagation protocol enables large-scale, disease-free production of saffron corms under controlled conditions, ensuring uniform planting material for commercial cultivation. This technology can be effectively applied in agri-startups, and tissue culture labs to support year-round multiplication, reduce dependency on seasonal corm availability, and enhance productivity and quality in saffron farming.

Advantages:
  • Season independent and simple techniques.
  • Produces disease-free and pathogen-free planting material, improving crop health.
  • Scalable for commercial production, supporting agribusiness and export potential.
  • A cost-effective and season-independent tissue culture technology for rapid, large-scale production of disease-free saffron corms, ensuring uniform, high-quality planting material for enhanced commercial cultivation.
