| Title: | Mobile Pyrolyser for Turning Agricultural Waste into Energy and Fertilizer |
| Value Proposition: | The growing interest in producing biofuels from lignocellulosic feedstock is providing a path towards supplementing petroleum-based fuels in an environment friendly and sustainable manner. Various feedstocks and combinations of processes are used in a bio-refinery for the production of several products. India is an agro based economy with a biomass availability of 670 million metric tons per annum covering agricultural residues. Out of which, 170 million metric tons of surplus biomass is left unutilised or burnt in open lands causing environmental problem. These residues are a renewable source of carbon and can be converted to energy products, chemicals and bio fertilizer. In the present process, the agricultural wastes are densified and processed in the pyrolysis unit. The pyrolysis vapoursare condensed and collected in a vessel. The non-condensable gases (2-3 MJ/kg) can be used for energy applications. The bio oil (organic fraction, 25-28 MJ/kg) produced can be
The by-product bio char (20-22 MJ/kg) can be used for soil enrichment, water purification, catalyst support, and energy & heat applications. The product distribution showed 28-32 wt. % of bio oil, 40-45wt. % of biochar and 2-30 wt. % of Gases.
