 Technology Profile

Title:

Municipal Waste Water Treatment Using Immobilized Microbial Culture- Bio Phytorem System

Value Proposition:
  • The proposed technology uses the immobilized microbes for treatment of Municipal wastewater in more efficient manner.
  • Bacterial cultures degrade organic matter after it forms biofilm on the inert material such as thermocol, non-woven fabric, gravels etc. for longer time interval.
  • Isolating the efficient bacterial strain from an established engineered wetland system.
  • The isolated bacterial strains will be immobilized on various inert materials such as Ca- alginate.
  • Unique aerobic microbial culture
Summary Application:

This technology finds application in the area of waste water treatment.

Advantages:
  • Reduces sewage treatment time at wetland.
  • Improves efficiency of wetland treatment system.
  • Reduce minimum space requirement for wetland construction.
  • Use of culture in the form of biofilm protects the bacteria from toxic compounds in sewage and increases its survival during influx of toxic substances and shock loads.
  • Eliminate requirement of frequent addition of microbial culture.
