Neera Bottling

Value Proposition:

The major problem facing the coconut plantations in India is the ‘mite’ disease. The state governments are taking necessary steps to contain/eliminate this problem by various means. However, the coconut farmers are putting up with a lot of hardship by way of loss of yield of the produce. To sustain the loss of revenue, the farmers have resorted to tapping the trees for collection of neera and selling it to realize some revenue for their livelihood

Summary Application:

Neera has a low glycaemic index and possesses essential minerals, making it a health drink. It could be positioned as a healthy alternative to soft drinks Coconut neera can also be aimed in the market for the targeted section like health-conscious people, diabetic patients, kids and youngsters as a natural nutritive product to replace soft drinks, also sugar and honey after value addition

Advantages:
  • Freshly tapped neera ferments very quickly to become ‘toddy’.
  • A process has been developed to preserve neera thermally in glass bottles
