| Abstract: | This invention relates development of an oxygen scavenger film which can be useful for packaging of oxygen sensitive food products and its method of preparation. The process particularly relates to development of an oxygen scavenger film from natural rubber blended with LDPE without adding any synthetic chemicals. The film thus made by compounding and blowing by double screw extruder has an oxygen scavenging capacity of 50 to 65 ml/g as compared to available oxygen scavenging films. Moreover, the process of preparation of oxygen scavenging film is simple, ecofriendly and cost-effective. Moreover, unlike commercially available oxygen scavengers where the activation is based on humidity and uncontrolled, the film described in the present invention can be activated just before its implementation or application to food products by simply exposing it to UV light for couple of seconds. |
