 Technology Profile

Title:

Paver Blocks with Recycled Aggregate

Value Proposition:

The use of recycled aggregate (RA) as a replacement for natural aggregate will provide a solution towards effective Construction and Demolition (C&D) waste management and also utilisation of the generated waste, thus creating circular economy in construction.

Summary Application:

The paver blocks made with RA can be used for non-traffic and light traffic (LT) areas such as shopping complex, ramps, car parks, office driveways, housing colonies, etc. There is tremendous scope for setting up precast industries (MSMEs) for the use of recycling materials in making building products such as paver blocks.

Advantages:

The RA produced from C&D waste, has been used for production of paver blocks. This technology is helpful to municipalities in the effective management of C&D waste without affecting the environment. Both fine and coarse aggregate are used to make paver blocks. It reduces the demand on natural resources extracting from the quarries/river beds.
