Advantages:
  • Higher current densities (1-3 A.cm-2) compared with 0-2 A.cm-2 alkaline system
  • No circulating liquid electrolyte
  • Wide range of power loading
  • Very rapid power up/power down rates
  • It is also creating new options for the fuel cell system, i.e. a regenerative fuel cell which operates both as a fuel cell and as an electrolyser.
