Portable Reading Machine for Visually Impaired

The machine for visually impaired has been realized based on hand held scanner technology which is capable of reading printed or electronic documents as well as can record voices. The machine comprises a hand held scanner which is connected through a wired link to an embedded controller. Headphone or speaker can be connected to the device to listen the audio. The machine is controlled via tactile keypads or user specific voice commands.  

For visually impaired to read print media as well as electronic files such as ebooks.

• It has the capability to read out the text in Indian English voice.
• People with low vision can see the magnified text along with voice output of documents by connecting display/monitor to it.
