Title:

Pre-fabricated Steel-Foam Concrete Composite (SFCC) Building Components for Seismic Resistant Buildings

Value Proposition:

Severe damages experienced during the past earthquakes across the world has raised queries about the seismic safety of buildings and houses that endangers the safety of people. CSIR-SERC has developed a technology for constructing prefabricated, seismic-resistant, low-rise, load-bearing buildings by employing light-weight Steel-Foam Concrete Composite (SFCC) wall, floor elements and the novel connections.

  • Prefabricated load bearing SFCC wall panel, SFCC floor/roof panel and SFCC wall-to-wall, SFCC wall-slab joint system will ensure cost effective technologies for mass housing (at least 15% of the existing conventional construction cost) and enables faster construction.
  • SFCC based load bearing buildings will possess excellent seismic resistance in Zone V regions and this ensures life safety of occupants by providing sufficient evacuation period which is immeasurable.
