Process for Making Fly Ash Based Geopolymer Concrete Using Solid form Ingredients for Rigid Pavement Roads

Value Proposition:

The above Know - How developed utilizing Industrial waste generated from Coal based thermal power plants i.e.Class F Fly Ash Salient features of Technology are as follows:

  • Fly Ash based (Cement Free) Geopolymeric Concrete developed using solid form ingredients.
  • The developed Fly Ash based Geopolymer Concrete Posses following Engineering Properties:
  • Density 2400-2500Kg/m3
  • Compressive Strrength 35-40  MPa
  • Flexural Strength 4-4.5 MPa
  • No water curing is required for strength development.
  • Developed concrete possesses improved engineering properties.
  • Road gets ready for traffic after 14 days of ambient drying.
  • The developed Technology Demonstrated as Rigid Pavement Road at AIIMS, Bhopal during May 2017

The Know-How Developed utilizing huge availability of Industrial Waste such as fly ash through a wider spectrum potential in the form of geo-polymeric approach. This will find application in development of Fly Ash based Advanced Geopolymeric Concrete  for making all weather roads in India.

Advantages:

  1. Bulk utilization of industrial waste i.e. Fly Ash.
  2. Developed Fly Ash basded Geopolymer concrete possesses improved engineering properties as compared to conventional cement concrete.
  3. No water curing is required for strength development.
  4. Eco-Friendly process : about 80% less COemission as compared to conventional cement concrete.
  5. Energy efficient process - Can be made at ambient temperature (35-450C approximately).
  6. Road gets ready for traffic after 7 days of ambient drying.
  7. Geopolymer Concrete Road can be made using Conventional road making Plants/Machineries.
  8. The developed process of making advanced Geopolymeric concrete will be useful for making eco-friendly and low maintenance rigid pavement roads.
