| Title: | Process for Synthesis of Graphene from Subbituminous Indian Coal |
| Value Proposition: | The technology provides a process for the production of high-grade graphene using subbituminous coal of Northeast India through the chemical and thermal techniques. |
| Summary Application: | The technology provides a process for the production of high-grade graphene using subbituminous coal of Northeast India through the chemical and thermal techniques. In light of the availability of abundant raw materials and the requirement of efficient, scalable, low-cost and at the same time high quality production of graphene, the present invention is a novel synthetic method by ultrasonication supported chemical oxidation, ultrafiltration followed by thermal reduction. Compared to the prior art, the present invention is easy to control, environmentally friendly, simple preparation process, uses cheap raw material (i.e. low-quality high sulfur subbituminous Northeast Indian (NER) coal), and also suitable for large scale commercial production. Furthermore, the developed fabricated product of the present invention possesses higher yield, high surface area, significant Specific Capacitance with lower ESR, and highly thermally stable. |
| Advantages: | It utilizes raw materials that are both abundant and cost-effective. The incorporation of ultrasonication and dialysis/ ultrafiltration steps underscores a commitment to efficient processing. This approach potentially leads to a higher yield of high-quality graphene. The incorporation of multiple steps allows versatility in tailoring the graphene properties to specific applications, thereby providing flexibility in the synthesis process. The method is easily scalable, indicating its potential for large-scale production. |
