Title:

Process to prepare a 100% water soluble FCO grade SOP from distillery ash

Value Proposition:

This technology enables the production of premium-grade water-soluble sulphate of potash fertilizer (complying with regulatory standards) from distillery incinerator ash - additional revenue for distilleries & import substitution in the national context (indigenous potash fertilizer).

Summary Application:

Many of the large-scale distilleries manage their spent wash through concentration-incineration route, in accordance with prevailing MoEF&CC/CPCB guidelines & generate high volume of potash-rich ash. In comparison to other competing technologies for utilisation of such ash (viz., production of PDM or Mixed potassic salts utilizing distillery ash); the present technology enables production of premium grade SOP (100% water soluble - suitable for drip irrigation & foliar application), & thus offers (i) wider product acceptance in national & global context – particularly for high value crops, as well as (ii) relatively better profitability.

Advantages:

Sugarcane based alcohol distilleries employing spent wash incinerator are the potential users of this technology. Currently the technology is in operation at DCM Shriram Bio Enchem Ltd, Hariawan, Hardoi, UP, at a sscale of 15 t SOP / day (nominal).
