| Abstract: | A completely safe, effective and inventive product with multi protection methods like Purge and pressurized, flameproof and intrinsic safety etc. to control the speed of Ex motors are to be installed in hazardous area is developed. The product is named as ?Purge and pressurized (Ex p) protected variable speed drives (VSDs) suitable for use in Hazardous Areas?. The product consists of many safety features as specified in IS/IEC 60079-0 and IEC/IEC 60079-2 standards for hazardous area. Additional safety features include observation glass window to observe different parameters of VSD, Ex hooter and LED flash light to bestow audio sound alarm and visual signal, proper gasket and sealing between cover and enclosure to enhance ingress protection degree and air leakage, differential pressure gauge, temperature sensors and other intrinsically safe/Ex instruments to trip incoming power supply during abnormal conditions. These safety features make product ignition source free which is basic requirement of hazardous area. The product is suitable to easily install in gas group IIA/IIB/IIC or III and zone 1 and 2 hazardous area or dust explosive atmospheres and also require least maintenance. Fig. 1 |
