| Abstract: | The present invention provides a process for the production of optimized and flame- retardant non-aqueous liquid electrolytes for lithium-ion batteries under fast charging condition therefrom. More particularly, the present invention relates the reformulation of non-aqueous liquid electrolytes for both low and moderate temperature applications with high rate capabilities (6C-rate) by a facile, and inexpensive method from solid and liquid electrolyte additives. . The viscosity of the solutions varies from 1.3 -1.35 mPas. The electrolytes have better wettability property with lower self-extinguishing time (SET) between 8-14 sec/100 micro litre. The lithium-ion cells with reconfigured non-aqueous liquid electrolytes deliver reversible capacities in the range of 110 to 150 mAh g-1 with a flat profile at 0.1 C-rate at 30oC while 50-70 mAh g-1 at 5oC. In addition, the reformulation of non-aqueous liquid electrolytesprovides perspective and possible strategy for further development of reconfigured non-aqueous electrolytes with long life, high energy , power densities and adequate safety at a competitive manufacturing costs. |
