| Abstract: | Regenerated Leather (Geno-Corium) And A Process for The Preparation Thereof The present work is aimed to prepare a material much similar to leather, using the solid wastes such as chrome shavings, or chrome-free shaving waste, or ground crust or finished leather trimming waste, or buffing dust, meeting all the mechanical and functional requirements. The size and geometry of the aforesaid solid wastes are the inhibiting factors to prepare a leather-like material having the requisite mechanical and functional properties. Also, these solid wastes in the composition needs to be adhered to and blend with other ingredients to yield a fabric-like material with a continuity and homogeneity in properties across the area. Therefore, accordingly the solid waste is partly hydrolysed, which makes the size much appropriate and also enhances binding and blending of the waste with other ingredients. The product finds industrial application in consumer product industry for producing footwear, garments, and lifestyle goods including bag, wallet, purse etc. |
