The most commonly used 4-alkyl resorcinols in cosmetics are 4-Methyl, 4-ethyl-, 4-isopropyl, 4-hexyl resorcinols (chemical structures - I-IV), and 3-(2,4-dihydroxyphenyl)propanoic acid (chemical structure V).
