Title:

Sesame Dehulling – Dry Process

Value Proposition:

The novel dry dehulling process developed by CFTRI uses indigenous dehuller (Patented in India - `A DEVICE FOR DRY MILLING OF GRAINS’, DEL/380/2001). The sesame seeds are dehulled in this machine without any pre-conditioning.  The dehulled seeds are water washed, dried and graded.  This process does not use any chemical/ bleaching agents.  Water requirement is also lower compared to the wet dehulling processes. The quality and yield of dehulled seeds is comparable to any other process in practice. The dry milling process does not need any pre-conditioning or any chemical treatment prior to or during dehulling.  The dehuller is patented.  The product obtained by this process is natural and retains all nutrients. The product is free from any chemical residues. Dehulling systems (Ref. US patent No: 4693903) uses simultaneous water and steam injection in to an attrition mill.  MASETO process of Spain, comprises of a seven step processing method with water-steam conditioning.  The CFTRI dry dehulling process does not need any pre-conditioning.  The dehuller is also indigenous and patented.
