Title:

Spice Oleoresins: Turmeric & Chillies

Value Proposition:

Spice oleoresins from turmeric and chillies are concentrated natural extracts containing both volatile oils and non-volatile flavor compounds. Turmeric oleoresin is rich in curcumin, providing bright yellow color and mild flavor, extracted from turmeric rhizomes, it yields a resin-like material used for both color (curcumin) and aroma, while chilli oleoresin Extracted from dry chillies, this provides the, pungent capsaicin and color (red) principles, often dispersed on salt or rusk for industrial use, and it contains capsaicin and carotenoids. These oleoresins provide consistent flavor, color, and quality, making them valuable ingredients for food processing industries.

Summary Application:

Oleoresins are produced by solvent extraction of dried turmeric rhizomes or chilli pods, followed by removal of the solvent to obtain a concentrated extract. Turmeric oleoresin is used mainly as a natural colorant and flavoring agent, while chilli oleoresin is used for pungency and red coloration. They are widely applied in processed foods, sauces, snacks, meat products, pickles, and seasoning formulations.

Advantages:

Spice oleoresins offer highly concentrated flavor and color, requiring only small quantities for effective use. They provide uniform quality and better stability compared with raw spices. Oleoresins are easy to store, transport, and standardize for industrial formulations. Additionally, turmeric oleoresin has antioxidant properties, while chilli oleoresin provides characteristic pungency and natural coloring for various food products.
