Abstract: The present invention discloses substituted-diazenylanilines of formula (I) and nucleic acids thereof that can potentially be used as fluorescence quenchers in chemical and biological fields, such as cell imaging applications, diagnostics, fluorescent and non-fluorescent tags, pharmaceuticals and other useful applications. Conjugates, complexes, and salts, and methods for preparing such novel compounds. More specifically, the present invention relates to 2, 2'-((4-(2, 5-substituted-4-((4-nitrophenyl)diazenyl)phenyl)diazenyl)-2/3-substituted-phenyl)ah Jandiil) dialkanols, methods for preparing said compounds, and their use as fluorescence quenchers in cell imaging applications, diagnostics, fluorescent and non-fluorescent tags, pharmaceuticals, and other useful applications.
