The present invention relates to development of a biofumigant formulation based on the edible plant essential oils and phytochemicals. The main component of the  biofumigant formulation includes onion, garlic, peppermint and lemon essential oils with diallyl disulphide and limonene phytochemical supplements (1:1:1:1:0.5:0.5).  The developed bio-fumigant formulation is comprehensively examined for the fumigant toxicity efficacy against major insect pests such as Sitophilus oryzae,  Callosobruchus maculatus and Tribolium castaneum. As outcome of the study, potential insect control was achieved for C. maculatus and T. castaneum with 1 Kg of  food grains at 72 h of fumigation process.
