| Abstract: | Disclosed herein is a textile fibre waste based reusable composite surface covering panel for installation on floors, walls, rooftops and countertops. The panel exhibits high impingement resistance with improved energy-efficiency and insulation properties, thus suitable flooring application in any extreme climatic conditions such as extreme hot or cold regions and seasons. The panel comprises: a first outer layer (100) formed of 1.5-2 mm thick polystyrene or acrylic sheet; a second outer layer (200) formed of 1.5-2 mm polystyrene or acrylic sheet; and a 3-4 mm thick glass sheet (300) sandwiched between the outer layers. One surface of the glass sheet (300) is adhered to the first outer layer (100) using a black epoxy resin blend (400) comprising silk and tasar waste. The opposite surface of the glass sheet (300) is adhered to the second outer layer (200) using a white epoxy resin blend (500) comprising cotton waste. The panel can be easily installed on any floor using ethylene-vinyl acetate (EVA) hot glue on its edges. If required the old glue from the panel edges can be removed using 99% isopropyl alcohol or acetone, and the panel can be reused. |
