| Abstract: | The present invention discloses a thermostable system 100 for storage and transportation of perishable goods in cold-chains, especially of food items. The said system combines an insulation container 102 made of biodegradable polyurethane with a cooling solution. Given polyurethane's hydrophilic nature and softer texture, a commercially-sourced damp-proof, lightweight, and food-grade coating is applied to the insulation container 102, offering enhanced water-resistance, easier handling, and extended holding-time. The system 100 further comprises a double-walled trough 112 to hold the goods to be stored/transported and the cooling solution can be filled into the hollow spaces between the inner and outer walls of the said trough. The cooling solution consists of 30% w/v Polyethylene Glycol (PEG)-4000 in water and when used in conjunction with the insulation container 102, enable the thermostable system 100 to sustain a 2-150C temperature range for 60 to 100 hours. | ||
