Title:

Tiny Rice Mill

Value Proposition:

The nutrition of rice is a function of the amount of bran retained on the kernel. But, rice with a low amount of polish (with higher nutrition) does not have a longer shelf life.  In order to deliver rice with better nutrition and taste, a Tiny Rice Mill having a capacity of 10 – 12kg/h, was designed.  This system uses only ½HP (~370W) single phase motor and thus has lesser power consumption than a domestic mixer – grinder.  The system has a rubber roll sheller which dehusks the paddy.  From the milled material, the husk is aspirated and collected separately through a cyclone.  The rice is then polished to the desired level by the customer.  The system can be used as and when required depending on the need, thus delivering rice with higher nutrition content as compared to commercially available rice.

Summary Application:

This system has excellent potential since rice with a better nutritional profile is made available to the customer. This system also finds use in rice mills, research institutes, and educational institutes apart from the domestic market.

Advantages:

The system has a rubber roll sheller which dehusks the paddy.  From the milled material, husk is aspirated and collected separately through a cyclone.  The rice is then polished to the desired level by the customer.  The system can be used as and when required depending on the need, thus delivering rice with higher nutrition content as compared to commercially available rice
