| Abstract: | The present invention provides a sterilization system that exposes common household items to moderate levels of ultraviolet radiation with the intent of rendering the exposed surfaces free of microorganisms. The apparatus uses low power, emission wavelength controlled ultraviolet light sources in the form of ultraviolet light emitting diodes which render a compact form factor with instant warm up and low energy footprint. The apparatus is safe and ensures safety of user from ultraviolet radiation. For convenience of user, timer circuit based display module and buzzer displays the remaining sterilization time and end of sterilization cycle respectively. The design also facilitates dual mode of operation wherein the user can operate the apparatus from a distance through remote control for additional safety and constant driver circuit ensures optimum radiance flux from the ultraviolet light emitting diodes. The present invention is particularly useful for sterilization of common household items which can be a source of pathogen carrying germs thus preventing highly contagious health diseases along with offering sufficient safety features to prevent exposure of harmful ultraviolet radiation to users. |
