| Abstract: | Up-flow Floating Surface Constructed Wetland (UFSCW) is a unique approach for wastewater treatment in a single unit with the concept of up-flow movement of wastewater and its contact with curled hanging ropes and root zone of floating plants. UFSCW has a single treatment unit with multiple chambers for enhanced sedimentation with Bio and Phyto remediation. Each chamber of UFSCW provides uniform up-flow movement of wastewater through baffle and concave end sill flow stagger arrangement. UFSCW enhances wastewater treatment through anaerobic and aerobic processes in a single chamber and anaerobic digestion of accumulated sludge in the bottom. This newly designed and developed UFSCW can club with existing conventional and constructed wetland (CW) treatment technologies as a primary enhanced sedimentation and partially secondary treatment unit. |
